New student checklist

  1. Obtain your NetLink ID. You will use your NetLink ID to log in to Online tools to register for courses, check your UVic email, access online course material, and other computing resources at UVic.
  2. Login to your UVic Microsoft 365 account. Your Microsoft 365 account includes your email account: you can use this email account to correspond with the university, apply for co-op jobs, or sign up for student-only services. Your Microsoft 365 account also provides access to Office apps such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, and OneDrive.   
  3. Register for or modify your course list in Online tools. If your course instructor has posted online content with Brightspace, navigate to Brightspace to view your course material.
  4. Get connected to UVic Wifi on your laptop or mobile device. UVic Wifi is available in all buildings within Ring Road and all residence buildings. Wired Internet access, ResNet, is available in every room in UVic Residence.
  5. Protect yourself online with UVic's Cybersecurity resources for students.
  6. Visit the Computer Help Desk for assistance with your NetLink ID, personal computer, or other computing resources.
