The UVic VPN service provides a secure communication back to the campus network. VPN servers employ encryption and other security measures to ensure that any data sent on the Internet will not be intercepted.

  • Staff
  • Students

How do I request or access this service?

Faculty, staff, and students with a valid NetLink ID can download and run the UVic VPN client on their computers.

Note: UVic MFA is required to connect to the UVic VPN.

Cisco Secure Client - Supported Operating Systems

Previous software versions were called Cisco AnyConnect.

  • Microsoft-supported versions of Windows 11 for ARM64-based PCs
  • Windows 11 (64-bit) and current Microsoft-supported Windows 10 x86 (32-bit) and X64 (64-bit)
  • MacOS 12 Big Sur, 13 Ventura, 14 Sonoma (only 64-bit is supported)
  • Linux Red Hat 9.x and 8.x, Ubuntu 24.04, 22.04 and 20.04
  • iPhone and iPad, iOS 13.0 or later
  • Android version 4.0 and up

What is the cost for this service?

This service is provided free of charge.

When is this service available?

This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. You can be informed of service interruptions by subscribing to Informed.
