The UVic School of Music and the Media Library have many outline resources that are available 24/7 for our students. Access usually requires that you are on campus or that you log in with your Netlink ID.
- UVic's live concert streaming service, open to the public
- School of Music archive of all major performances by faculty and students
- A "search everything" database that provides a potpourri of sources and source types on a general subject
- Best for scores, books, and media; type "score," "recording," "streaming," or "dvd" after your keywords to limit your search to specific media types
- All of the primary online databases for music (sources and streaming) to which UVic subscribes; an invaluable list for any research or performance project; remember to log-in if not on campus!
- A massive collection of music for streaming with thorough performer and performance information
- Some UVic courses use Spotify playlists as a way of organizing listening materials, but Spotify does not often provide reliable performer and performance information for its catalogue
- A scholarly, comprehensive encylopedia on art music
- A curated site by our resident music librarian, Bill Blair
- Audio and video database which includes Pop, Jazz, World, Theatre, and Classical recordings
- A high-quality, rigorously curated subscription service that includes audiovisual streaming of performances of all types, including opera
- The easiest way to find out if a source exists at any library in the world; great for ILL searches
- A database for journal articles and book chapters on music
- All you need to know to format your citations appropriately
