Production and Technical Support unit exists to manage and continuously improve enterprise grade information systems in collaboration with business areas to further the mission of the University of Victoria.

Overview

Production and Technical Support (PTS) unit provides enterprise systems implementation, maintenance and support services for University of Victoria’s administrative and support units. PTS consists of Senior Database Administrators, Senior Systems Analysts and Systems Analysts. PTS is responsible for leading and planning ongoing management, reliability, integrity and sustainability of University’s mission-critical enterprise systems including Ellucian Banner ERP system. In addition, we are responsible for working with various operational units across the University to accomplish and further their goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

Database Management: PTS is responsible for installation, configuration, upgrades, and ongoing management of the following enterprise grade databases:

  • Oracle
  • SQL Server
  • MySQL
  • PostgreSQL

Application Management: PTS is responsible for managing and supporting 50+ vendor provided enterprise applications. Some examples include:

  • ERP Modules: Student, Finance, HR, Student Aid, Document Management, Workflow
  • Recruitment system
  • UVic Mobile
  • Timetable scheduling system
  • ONECard
  • Fundraising Management system
  • Leaning Management system
  • Parking system
  • Cascade CMS
  • Student Housing system
  • Incident Management system
  • Catering system
  • Workforce Management system
  • Residence Cleaning system

Operations

  • Tier-2 and Tier-3 technical support for all vendor provided enterprise systems.

Hours

Production and Technical Support maintains on-site support Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Outside of these hours, we are available to assist with problem resolution on a best-effort basis.
