Bursary programs

UVic General Bursary program

The University of Victoria offers a General Bursary program that aims to cover some of the financial need not met by Canadian government student loans and grants, and other sources of funding. A bursary is a non-repayable monetary award.

Bursaries amounts are determined by a financial need calculation using the guidelines established by StudentAid BC, expenses and resources self-declared by students on their budget sheets, and Canadian government student loan and grant amounts. Bursaries are meant to supplement, not replace, other financial assistance.

General bursaries are offered twice per year, once in the Summer Session for the Summer General Bursary (May - August) and once in the Winter Session for the Winter General Bursary (September - April).

Only one application per session is necessary to be considered for all general bursaries. Students will be matched to bursaries they are eligible for as a part of the bursary assessment process.

Bursary funds will be applied to tuition fee accounts for the terms of study for which funding was awarded.

If your fees are paid in full, you may contact Tuition Fees at tuition@uvic.ca to request a refund of any credit on your account. Set up direct deposit online to receive the refund.

See a summary of your tuition account by logging in to Online Tools and viewing your Account Summary.

If there are any changes to your registration or financial situation during the term or session you received a bursary for, your bursary may be adjusted or withdrawn.

Bursaries are subject to the regulations listed in the Academic Calendar.
