UVic Graduate Students

These fellowships support students in the research stages of their program. In addition to these funds, the fellowships provide students with a title, an office (possibly shared), an opportunity to provide a public lecture based on their research, opportunities to work on the projects housed in the CFGS, and regular opportunities to meet other students and professors interested in related issues.

Topics: The CFGS promotes critical citizenship in a complex and rapidly changing global environment including the advancement and understanding of major global issues by civil society, the private sector, governments, and international institutions. Students are invited to apply who are engaged in similar topics of a global dimension.  These topics may include, but are not limited to: global governance, international environmental challenges, social justice issues, and culture and identity. Applications from all disciplinary backgrounds are welcome.

Eligibility: The fellowships are open to all University of Victoria graduate students in the process of writing either a Masters thesis or major research paper, or a PhD dissertation, on issues related to the centre's research mandate. Students may receive a CFGS award only once during their Masters program and once during their PhD program.

Value: $5,000 per fellowship, plus office space at the CFGS.

Length of stay: Ordinarily, fellows are expected to stay for at least 2 academic terms up to a maximum of 12 months.
