The First Peoples House is a welcoming and culturally significant space at UVic, created to support and connect Indigenous students. Here, you’ll find a variety of spaces designed to meet your academic, cultural and social needs.

Computer room

Stay on top of your academic work in the computer room, equipped with the latest technology (two screens), comfortable chairs, privacy screens and a printer. Whether you’re working on assignments or researching, this space has everything you need.

Study Lounge

Looking for a quiet place to focus? The study lounge offers a serene environment with relaxing views, providing the ideal setting for studying, reading or simply enjoying a peaceful moment.
Elders Room

Elders' Lounge

Connect with Elders in Residence in the Elders Lounge. A safe and comfortable space dedicated to fostering relationships with Elders. For information about Elder drop-in dates and how you can engage with them, visit our Elders page.
Shared kitchen

Shared Kitchen

Gather with friends, prepare meals and enjoy the outdoor patio in the shared kitchen. This space is equipped with a fridge/freezer, toaster, microwave and comfortable seating. The shared kitchen is a perfect place to connect, share and relax in a warm, communal atmosphere with other Indigenous students and staff.

FPH Foyer

The foyer of the First Peoples House offers comfortable seating with benches and couches where you can take a break, quick study session, meet with friends or simply enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and the beautiful natural light.

Classrooms

There are two classrooms in the FPH. These rooms must be booked in advance. Rooms are equipped with AV, tables and chairs.
