Understanding CETA and the European Union

Wednesday, October 30

9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Cadboro Commons, Arbutus/Queenswood room

Are you interested in expanding your markets to Europe? As a government official, are you sometimes at a loss to explain and/or understand the European Union (EU)? The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the EU opens a huge market of more than 450 million consumers to Canadian businesses and access to a government procurement market worth $3.3 trillion annually. The EU and the Government of BC are offering a free training session on how businesses and government can take advantage of CETA.

This practical and interactive workshop aims to provide participants with a good understanding of how the European Union works and of the opportunities afforded by the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.  After the session, participants should have improved their comprehension of how most decisions are made in the EU; how to influence EU processes; how to seize opportunities afforded by the CETA; and to recognise the importance of engagement with the EU.
