Early Childhood Development Virtual University – ECDVU 

UNESCO Chair, Alan Pence, Child and Youth Care

This innovative, multi-faceted, internationally recognized program is based in the Sub-Saharan region of Africa and led by our School of Child and Youth Care. ECDVU helps address Early Childhood Care and Development leadership needs in the Majority World. It is a unique training and capacity building program using distributed learning methods including interactive web-based course work as well as face-to-face seminars.

Interested in international learning through an advanced practicum course? The School of Child and Youth Care is part of a global community of educational and research collaborations fostered with international scholars who contribute to our peer–reviewed online journal - International Journal of Child, Youth and Family Studies. Students and graduates benefit from interacting with visiting scholars and students from diverse international backgrounds.

Community-based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education

UNESCO Co-Chair - Dr. Budd Hall - School of Public Administration

This UNESCO co-chair was established with UVic in 2012. There are several objectives of this Chair, primarily to facilitate north and south collaborations to build institutional capacity of higher education and civil society research organizations in the theory and practice of community-university research partnerships. UVic’s works with their co-chair partner organization, the Society for Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA) in India.
