September 2024 applications are closed. Our next intake will be September 2025. 

The mandatory BSW Supplemental Application will be open in early December 2024. 

Entry to the BSW programs is at THIRD year.

Please review the Eligibility Document to ensure you will be eligible to apply.  This document includes information about transfer credits and what to take in preparation for the program.

There are 2 parts to the application – an application to Undergraduate Admissions at UVic and a required supplemental application to the School of Social Work.

Application Process


Part 1

Apply to the University of Victoria  through Undergraduate Admissions (current UVic students must apply for a program change).

Follow the link below that best describes your current status.

New to UVic student - On the Program Selection part of the online application, select Human & Social Dev.; Social Work (BSW). 

Current UVic student – apply for a program change – you’ll be evaluated as a transfer student and will need to meet the admission requirements for your new program.

Previous UVic student – apply for re-admission.

Previous BSW student – see the policy on re-instatement to the program.


Part 2

The section below outlines the September 2024 BSW Supplementary Application procedure.  Please check back in early December 2024 for the September 2025 forms and upload information.

Apply to the School of Social Work through an online form on Survey Monkey.

Step 1: Download and fill out the two (2) forms below.

The Statement of Intent provides an opportunity for you to outline the degree of compatibility between our BSW Program and your interests and background.

The Experience Summary is where you outline your relevant employment, volunteer, and educational experiences. 

Step 2: Upload these completed forms using the link you were provided via email.


You will receive a confirmation email within a few days to say that we have received your application. 

If there are any issues with the documents, we will contact you. If you need assistance with the online application, please contact swadmit@uvic.ca.

After you apply


Notification of Acceptance 

Part 1: University of Victoria - Undergraduate Admissions

Part 2: School of Social Work – Supplemental Application

After the application deadline (January 31st), Faculty review all of the Supplemental Applications. Please see the Application Timeline below. You will receive an email letting you know that Faculty have completed the review of your Supplemental Application and the outcome.

  • If your Supplemental Application is selected, you are still required to complete the admission requirements for UVic to enter the BSW program. You will receive an email with next steps.
  • If your Supplemental Application is not selected, then you are not eligible to enter the BSW program at this time. You are welcome to reapply for a future entry point.

Application Timeline


Please note that the timing of your official acceptance to UVic depends on when you submit your final required documents (example: transcripts) to Undergraduate Admissions.

January 31st
Deadline for the University of Victoria Application and the School of Social Work Application for September.

February
Undergraduate Admissions begins verifying your eligibility (GPA; enough credits; etc). Faculty at the School of Social Work begin reviewing Supplemental Applications.

Late April
School of Social Work begins sending out selection notices about Supplemental Applications.

May – June
Undergraduate Admissions begins sending out selection notices about your application to UVic.  Please refer to the Undergraduate Admissions page for general information about accepting an offer.
