Why our program is different

Our instructors are renowned evaluators who specialize in culturally responsive and equity-focused approaches. They are experts in collaborative and participative approaches, theory-based evaluations, qualitative approaches and evaluation for planetary health.

Whether you plan to work at the community level, in government or as a researcher or consultant, this online program will:

  • provide you with essential skills and knowledge on a diversity of evaluation approaches, methodologies and methods
  • introduce you to debates and new trends in the field of evaluation
  • develop your capacity to lead culturally-responsive evaluations as well as other kinds of evaluations
  • apply a working knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative evaluation methodologies
  • build the evaluator competencies identified by the Canadian Evaluation Society as part of professionalizing evaluation practice in Canada

Continue into the diploma program

After completing the certificate program, you may apply to continue into the Graduate Diploma in Evaluation.

The program is perfect for new or mid-career professional evaluators. You’ll build knowledge and skills to become an expert in evaluation and performance measurement, and work with a client to develop and execute an evaluation.

Concurrent programs

If you’re in the MPA-thesis or MACD program, you can enroll in the Graduate Evaluation in Certificate at the same time as your degree program. You may choose to focus your thesis on an applied evaluation project for experience in evaluation.

Admission requirements

The application deadline is March 31 for a September program start. See all admission requirements on the admissions site.

If you are interested in the diploma you must first apply for admission to the certificate program.

Program overview

The Graduate Certificate in Evaluation is made up of four courses (6.0 units total). The Graduate Diploma in Evaluation consists of the same four courses (6.0 units) plus an applied evaluation project (3.0 units).

You will register in one online course per term and typically complete the program in under two years.
