Corporate Knights 2022 Better World MBA ranking puts Gustavson School of Business 11th in the world

Victoria B.C. – The Gill Graduate School at UVic’s Gustavson School of Business is named the top MBA program in Western Canada by the Corporate Knights’ Better World MBA Index. This distinction places the UVic MBA program within the top five programs in North America for sustainable management education.

“Our MBA curriculum reflects on building leaders the world needs right now – holistic leaders focused on driving positive change,” says Saul Klein, dean of the Gustavson School of Business. “Gustavson has a long history of leading the way with a sustainability-integrated program where students are given the skills to become the responsible changemakers of the future.”

The annual Corporate Knights’ Better World MBA Index evaluated 160 MBA programs from around the world to determine the top 40 programs. 2022 marks the sixth consecutive year that Gustavson has been named to the top 21. At 11th overall, the school received its highest ranking to date among the competitive global pool.

In 2020, Gustavson launched its MBA in Sustainable Innovation, designed for leaders who embrace responsibility for the future by integrating financial, environmental and human sustainability considerations in their decisions. Gustavson also delivers master of global business, master in management, BCom and PhD programs.

The Better World MBA Index evaluates schools across key performance indicators: sustainability-focused research (50%), the number of core courses that incorporate sustainable development topics (30%), research institutes and centres devoted to sustainable development issues (10%) and faculty gender and racial diversity in the business school (5% each); with a bonus score for alumni working for impact organizations.
