Photos & videos
Use photography and video to convey what makes UVic unique, to highlight emotion and to share our story. UVic photos and videos should:
-
draw the outside into our work and elevate place as a hero
-
showcase our people in ways that celebrate how this place influences their work, life and commitments to people, place and planet
-
include subtle pops of UVic colours, where possible
-
reflect the diversity of UVic students, faculty, staff, alumni, partners and community
- have candid and natural poses
- have high contrast
- elicit curiosity and/or smiles
- use real UVic people—students, staff, faculty and partners
Faculty and staff can access our image gallery for ready-to-use images.
Students and partners can submit a request for access to our images.
Consent for photos, videos or recordings
When photographing or recording someone, you must get their consent through a consent form.
When deciding whether to include a photo credit or not, consider these guidelines:
- in UVic materials and on UVic websites and social channels, include a photo credit when:
- the photo was taken by a UVic student
- the photo was taken by a UVic employee not as part of their duties
- the photo was taken by a contractor and you are contractually obligated to do so
- when you grant a third party permission to use a UVic photo:
- include a "University of Victoria" credit when the photo was taken by a UVic employee as part of their duties
