Teaching awards

The prestigious REACH awards celebrate teaching and research excellence. Teaching awards are administered through the Division of Learning and Teaching Support and Innovation (LTSI) and are available for faculty, sessional, and graduate instructors. 

Individual Faculties also administer awards and fellowships to scholars. Visit their websites to learn more. For example:

External awards

LTSI provides nomination support for the 3M National Teaching Fellowship.

UVic's Office of Research Services supports faculty with external research awards, grants and funding.

Undergraduate research awards for students

The Division of Learning and Teaching Support and Innovation administers two undergraduate research awards, named in honour of past UVic provosts.

Valerie Kuehne Undergraduate Research Awards

This award provides an opportunity for first- and second-year students to gain research-enriched and applied experiences in their discipline or field of study. Students gain first-hand experience in planning and undertaking research or creative works.

Jamie Cassels Undergraduate Research Awards

This award is open to third- and fourth-year students in excellent academic standing, and encourages students from all disciplines to pursue innovative and original research. It also prepares students for graduate studies or a research related career.

Provost's Award in Engaged Scholarship

The Provost’s Award in Engaged Scholarship (2014–2021) celebrated the integration of outstanding UVic scholarship, teaching and community engagement. The title of Provost’s Engaged Scholar was awarded to 18 tenured faculty members who achieved great distinction as community engaged scholars:
