Graduate Directed Studies (GEOG 590)

Registration request form for GEOG 590 Directed Studies

To request registration in a GEOG 590 Directed Studies course, please work with your directed studies instructor and your supervisor to fill in the request form. Once you, the course instructor, and your supervisor have signed, please send the form to geog2@uvic.ca to get the remaining signatures and for the next steps.

Formal Review of Student Progress

Formal Review of Student Progress form

All graduate students and their Supervisory Committees must complete an annual Formal Review of Student Progress by August 31 of every year using the Formal Review of Student Progress form. Details about this process are found in section 2.3 (pages 15-16) of the Graduate Student Handbook. Completed Review forms must be submitted to the Geography Program Assistant (geog2@uvic.ca).

Forming or Altering a Supervisory Committee

If a student would like to change or add to their supervisory committee, the student and their primary supervisor must fill in the appropriate form from those found above. Once the form is complete and the student and primary supervisor have signed it, it must be sent to geog2@uvic.ca for the Graduate Advisor to review.

PhD Candidacy Exams - Scoping Document

Scoping Document form

All PhD students must complete candidacy exams near the start of their program. The above scoping document form can be used for the student and supervisory committee to establish the scope of the candidacy exams. Details about the candidacy exams process are found in section 8.6 (pages 33-35) of the Graduate Student Handbook. Any questions can be directed to the Geography Program Assistant (geog2@uvic.ca).
