Awards for anthropology students

Field school funding

Student International Activities Fund - to assist with participation in unpaid international learning activities.

One World International Scholarship - international scholarship programs to assist students who plan to complete some of their coursework outside of North America.

Strategic Framework Experiential Learning Fund (SF-ELF) - travel awards for internships and field schools outside Victoria.

BC Association of Professional Archaeologists (BCAPCA) - bursaries for students pursuing a degree in archaeology and Indigenous students in any field.

Gerald Merner Field School Awards - the Archaeological Society of British Columbia (ASBC) gives awards to students taking their first field school. The field school must be in BC. To apply, email asbc.president@gmail.com about your experience, financial need and the field school you will attend. Include a brief letter of support from the field school instructor. Deadline is May 1.

Barkley Sound Field School Student Award - awards for undergraduate anthropology students attending the Barkley Sound Field School. You must have completed at least 1 course in archaeology in the last academic year and show financial need.

UVic Libraries

University of Victoria Libraries offer awards to undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate their use of library resources.

Emergency funding

UVic’s emergency loan fund provides short-term help to students experiencing an unanticipated and urgent financial crisis.
