Appointment Modes

The Academic Advising Centre for Humanities, Science & Social Sciences offers advising appointments in the following modes:

• phone
• Microsoft Teams
• in person

Academic advising for newly admitted & undeclared students

If you are either a newly-admitted UVic student, or have attended UVic but have not declared your program yet, you can book an appointment by:

• calling 250-721-7567 ext. 6
• visiting our front counter in Jamie Cassels Centre A203 (2nd floor)

Academic advising for declared students

If you have declared your program, you can book an academic advising appointment by:

• calling 250-721-7567 ext. 6
• visiting our front counter in Jamie Cassels Centre A203 (2nd floor)
• login to Accordion with your Netlink credentials

*If you are planning to complete a program in a faculty other than Humanities, Science, or Social Sciences, contact an adviser in the appropriate faculty.

Connect by email

When emailing Academic Advising, be sure to use the email address on your UVic student record and include the following:

• your full name and student number
• your questions for Academic Advising

Please note that we do not book advising appointments via email unless you are unable to call or visit in person.

Drop-in Advising

Advising at the Learning Commons

Do you have a quick question for an academic adviser but don't need a full advising appointment?  Visit us at our drop-in times.

When: 

• Monday, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. (Dec. 2 hours will be 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.)
• Wednesday, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
• Thursday, 10 a.m. – noon
• Friday, 10 a.m. – noon

Where: McPherson Library Learning Commons, room 135H

Sign up: There will be a sign up sheet on the office door where you can add your name.  The adviser will call you in when it is your turn, so please stay nearby.

First Peoples House

Academic Advisers are available at First Peoples House, Room 128 for drop-in advising from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. every Wednesday during the Spring 2025 term.

Varsity Athletes

We offer pre-booked 20-minute appointments for varsity athletes from September to April. To request an appointment please send an email and include:

• first and last name
• UVic student number
• faculty and/or program of interest
• sport

Please note: if the varsity-dedicated appointments are full or do not work with your schedule, you are welcome to contact the Academic Advising Centre to book an appointment.
