The lab includes administration staff, research project coordinators, and doctoral, masters, and undergraduate trainees focused on conducting research in the domain of physical activity and population health. Lab members attend regular meetings, workshops, and social events that serve to advance knowledge exchange, learning, and the academic experience. Members also attend and present at national and international scientific meetings and conferences throughout the year.

The lab itself is a 90 square-meter facility with cutting-edge fitness testing and exercise training equipment for research projects and multi-site research trials. The BMED lab also includes two offices and an adjacent computer laboratory and workplace for trainees and staff.

Our lab is like a family, with Dr. Rhodes as the head. Lab members support each other academically and socially. We have social events to celebrate our accomplishments, acknolwedge hard work, and simply have fun. Past social events include curling night, picnics at the beach, end of term lunches, holiday time skating, and kayaking in North Vancouver. Our most recent events include an Amazing Race style scavenger hunt around the city and curling lessons followed by a game, in conjunction with UVic's Rehabilitation Neuroscience Lab.
