Promoting better and more equitable health worldwide through the production and use of knowledge

The discussion group on global health research was created in April 2017. It brings together colleagues at U. Victoria who have an interest or are actively involved in health research in the broader context of global health for development.

The group is a reflection of the university’s institutional membership in the Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research (see: www.ccghr.ca ) for which the Centre for Global Studies is serving as a “hub”.

The objectives of this discussion group are:

  1. To share and discuss the research interests of members, including projects, publications, invited guest speakers—with the aim of exploring inter-disciplinary collaborative activities.
  2. To promote and facilitate the interests and career development of younger colleagues in this field, particularly graduate students.
  3. To pro-actively create mutually beneficial links between U. Victoria and the Island Medical Program (IMP) colleagues.
  4. Through the university’s membership in the CCGHR, to be aware of relevant national and global developments in the field of global health research, and to participate in CCGHR working groups and events.

Membership in this discussion group is open and free. The group will plan to meet every 4 to 6 weeks.
