General bursaries are not specific to any department. To be eligible for a general bursary, students must be receiving maximum government student loans and/or grants and still have unmet financial need. Only one application is necessary to be considered for all general and departmental bursaries.

Faculty of Human and Social Development Indigenous Student Emergency Fund

One or more bursaries, with a maximum value of $700 each per year, are awarded to Indigenous students (First Nations status or non status, Inuit, Métis) enrolled in the faculty of Human and Social Development in the event of an unforeseen emergency or circumstance while attending the University of Victoria.

The funding is intended to assist with financial emergencies including, but not limited to:
- medical, optical, or dental expenses
- family crisis, community obligations, or cultural commitments and responsibilities
- unanticipated expenses that are beyond the student's control and that directly impact their ability to complete the term.

The award will be made to a student, on the basis of academic achievement and financial need, who has completed pre-medical studies at the University of Victoria and is proceeding to medical school the following September.

Graduate Students' Society Bursary

The gift of the Graduate Students Society, are to be made annually to three full-time graduate students in Humanities and/or Social Sciences (as described by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council).  The Bursaries will be based firstly on the financial need of those eligible and secondly on their academic standing.

Jubilee Year Graduating Class Bursary Fund*

Students with an academic standing of second class or better will be considered if they demonstrate genuine need. The award is made available through the generous donations of graduating classes at the University. One or more bursaries of up to $1,500 are available to students who are residing in a University of Victoria residence, excluding Family Housing, and have an eight-month contract (September to April).  The bursaries are awarded on the basis of financial need and are intended to assist students in paying their residence accommodation and meal plan fees.
