on the Verge
The "on the Verge" writing contest showcases and celebrates emerging UVic student voices. The 2017-2018 theme was HOME. Rachel Lallouz, Kate Fry, Nicholas Guerreiro and Chris Tse all took home first place prizes of $250.

In February, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) launched its first edition of Science Exposed, a contest to showcase images of scientific research, in all fields of study. Participants are eligible for a chance to win one of three prizes, as well as win $1,000 for the Public Choice Award.

In the inaugural Campus Checklist newsletter on Sept. 16, we asked faculty and staff to tell us "what's the one thing every new UVic student ought to know that would best improve their experience or support academic success?" We received lots of great responses, and two winners were randomly selected from the 72 submissions for two $100 prizes, loaded onto ONECards.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our "ONECard, one question" contest, and congratulations to our two winners, who were randomly selected from the 72 submissions. Mary Lesperance (faculty) and Maureen Nelms (staff) will receive $100 on their ONECards. Keep an eye out for more contests in upcoming newsletters.
