The Moving Trans History Forward conferences are not just for scholars, or just for community people. MTHF conferences are a unique blend that create opportunities for cross-fertilization among members of the general public, students and faculty, artists, activists, Trans+ people, family members, allies, and service providers. These conferences address both our history and the crucial issues that impact us today and into the future—locally, nationally, and globally.

The 2025 edition of the conference will be offered in a hybrid format, taking place both in person at the University of Victoria's NEW Conference Centre, Sŋéqə ʔéʔləŋ (Sngequ House), and online March 27–30, 2025 (#MTHF25).

We invite you to submit proposals for individual or panel presentations, workshops, and creative works to present online or in person. Submissions relevant to gender-diverse people from all perspectives and pertaining to all regions of the world, are welcome. We invite proposals for new or recently released academic materials, and presentations about community activities. Please ensure that your proposal is written in plain English so that it can be understood by people who are not experts in your topic.

All presenters whose proposals are accepted will need to register and pay registration fees to attend the conference (online or in person). A limited number of financial subsidies will be available.
