The School welcomes and is actively recruiting applicants from communities that experience historical and present-day systemic discrimination and marginalization, and who are committed to social justice, equity, anti-racism and decolonization. In our admissions decisions, we will apply a decolonial equity framework which includes an intersectional lens and will prioritize applicants who are Indigenous, Black and people of colour.

Application Information

Welcome to the School of Social Work. We offer three Master of Social Work programs, accredited by the Canadian Association of Social Work Education (CASWE).

The application window for our next intake in September 2025 will open in early October, 2024. We will admit new cohorts to our MSW Advanced (MSWA) and MSW Foundation (MSWF) program streams.

The MSWA/MSWI program streams require applicants to hold a BSW degree from a CASWE accredited social work program. The MSWF stream is for students not in possession of a BSW.

Please be advised that our next MSWI intake will be in September 2026.

All admitted MSWA and MSWI students are required to attend an on-campus institute, which are held for a week in late August/early September of each entry year (exact dates to be determined). All admitted students will need to refer to their email for the most up-to-date information. Please also refer to the Academic Calendar Timetable for other official dates.

We offer three Master of Social Work programs with different application processes. Please follow the links below to access the appropriate admission requirements and the application process.

The School of Social Work does not offer a curriculum directly supporting clinical social work education. For counselling programs and courses please contact the Faculty of Education and the School of Educational Psychology and Leadership studies.
