The CYCSS has had a profoundly positive impact on myself, being brand new to the province and city here in British Columbia. I have been able to form genuine relationships that have been transformative in my personal and professional well-being! -Lauren Pederson, 4th year student

The Child and Youth Care Student Society (CYCSS) is a student-led club that focuses on supporting one another in career development, course navigation, and career-related topics. It is a welcoming community that promotes friendship, amplification of Child and Youth Care practice and a successful university experience. The CYCSS serves as an environment to form strong relationships both in and out of the classroom setting!

The CYCSS hosts bi-weekly meetings that serve as a space to connect and grow with like-minded individuals. The CYCSS also holds social events quarterly, which are external to the weekly meetings. These events are an opportunity to network and bond with peers within the CYC program and surrounding fields of study.

The CYCSS is open to all current and future CYC students, as well as members of the UVic community interested in the CYC program. You can follow us on our Instagram @uvic_cycss where we post updated information frequently.

Join us in our online SCYC community to share ideas, keep up with community activities and build connections beyond the classroom. Current students can access the site through Brightspace. You’ll see it listed with your courses.

We look forward to you joining!

As a passionate CYC student, I am grateful to have the opportunity to learn and grow in the CYCSS. Our program deserves more recognition, like many other human service programs, and the CYCSS brings that to the department. - Analea Vargas, 4th year student
During my time in the CYCSS, my bonds with my classmates have been strengthened and I have gained a sense of community and belonging that has changed my university experience for the better. I am so grateful for our meetings where we laugh, exchange stories, and work to make the best of our time in CYC. - Zoey Richter, 4th year student
