UVic distributes more than $12 million in student loans, grants, bursaries and scholarships each year through Student Awards and Financial Aid.

Loans and grants

UVic can help you to apply for loans and grants that often make it possible to continue your studies. The federal and provincial/territorial governments provide student loan and grant assistance for Canadian citizens and permanent residents studying at the post-secondary level.

The funding is offered in the form of repayable loans and non-repayable grants and is issued to students if they have demonstrated financial need. These loans are interest free while you are a full-time student. Learn how to apply for financial aid.

Bursaries and scholarships

The Faculty of Fine Arts is proud to offer more scholarships and bursaries than any other UVic faculty, in addition to participating in various university-wide funding initiatives.

Bursaries are non-repayable awards based on financial need. Students can apply to receive these award if they are receiving the maximum student loans available for their period of study and are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.

Scholarships, medals and prizes are awarded to full-time students on the basis of academic merit or excellence. Entrance scholarships are available for new students and in-course scholarships are geared for upper-level returning students.

Third- and fourth-year students may apply for a research opportunity under the mentorship of a faculty member via the Jamie Cassels Undergraduate Research Awards (JCURA).
