Projects

Students and Faculty in the University of Victoria's Technology and Society often partner in some truly creative projects and endeavours, and, often, students take the lead!

Project Prometheus

Project Prometheus is the brain-child of two former UVic students. It is to be an online web-based community learning portal based on some of the ideas of Ivan Illich. In the words of one of its co-founders, "Project Prometheus is meant to get away from the focus on certification and professionalization, and work to connect those who are interested in learning for the sake of learning." The site brings together those who are willing to teach and those who are willing to learn, provided that it is organized without cost or payment and that it occur in a public place. Those hoping to learn how to repair a carburetor or about 17th Century French Architecture may find like-minded learners!
