UVic champions resource hub to support Indigenous co-op students

June 09, 2022

For the past year, UVic Co-op and Career has lead the development of a set of resources that will help work-integrated learning practitioners and employers to better support the hiring and retention of Indigenous students.

Developed in partnership with institutions from across British Columbia and with support of the Association for Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning BC/Yukon, this project has resulted in self-serve resources for employers. The project was made possible through funding through BC's Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training.

Additionally, student-facing resources have been created to help Indigenous students advocate for themselves. Resources included digital material, training modules and a set of videos. Topics include self-identifying on a job application, tokenism, partnership and representation, program accessibility and responding to the TRC Calls to Action.
