Feng Hou's research focuses on socioeconomic integration of immigrants and the second generation, dynamics of social diversity, neighbourhoood and community contextual effects, and applied statistical techniques.

He is a senior researcher with Social Analysis Division, Statistics Canada. From 1996 to 1999, he was a researcher with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Toronto.
