Faculty bio
I am interested in the interplay between neurocognition and psychosocial functioning. My research seeks to predict health outcomes in aging and chronic illness groups. It focuses on understanding how cognitive and psychosocial factors predict age-related cognitive changes. My research also examines outcomes in those with chronic illness, including medication adherence.
Additionally, my research explores the utility of cognitive measures in predicting real-world outcomes. With this knowledge, we aim to create screening methods useful for diverse groups. We also intend to develop psychological and cognitive programs to improve real-world outcomes.
The pandemic has also influenced my research. I am involved in 3 related projects examining COVID-19 and the impacts of the pandemic. The first investigated the psychosocial impacts of the pandemic. With this research, we aim to improve our understanding of what mental health resources best support people in times of uncertainty.
The second aims to better understand predictors of vaccine confidence in Canadian youth, and the third seeks to understand the neuropsychological consequences of the Post-COVID Condition (PCC). This latter project has the goal of improving support services available to those affected.
Clinically, I am trained as a lifespan neuropsychologist. My practice focuses on neuropsychological assessment and differential diagnosis across the lifespan. In my clinical work, I have conducted assessments post-traumatic brain injury, post-accident/injury, for assessment of capacity and in the context of neurological and neurodegenerative disorders.
