Areas of research focus

  • Mitochondria
  • Diversity of unicellular eukaryotes (protists)
  • Comparative genomics and molecular evolution

I have broad interests in the diversity, metabolism, and evolution of eukaryotic cells. In my research, I use a wide phylogenetic scope – typically using single-celled eukaryotes (protists) – to infer large-scale evolutionary patterns. I employ a wide range of approaches, including biochemistry, molecular biology, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and in silico evolutionary analyses.
