David Rulff

David Rulff
Position
PhD student
Civil Engineering
Credentials

BASc (University of Waterloo), MASc (University of Toronto)

Area of expertise

Machine learning, building energy models

David first looked to apply his systems design undergraduate studies to district energy, working with Christopher Kennedy and Enwave to investigate the potential for optimizing the growth of thermal energy networks through distributed generation. After completing his Masters with the Sustainable Infrastructure Group at UofT, David joined WSP (then Enermodal Energy) at their Toronto office, where he worked for over 7 years as an energy performance technical lead and project manager in the sustainable buildings group.

Building on his interest and experience in energy performance simulation, David has joined Ralph Evins and his research group to explore the useful application of machine learning to improve building energy modeling, and to contribute to development of the net zero navigator project.
