Taco Niet

Taco graduated with his M.A.Sc. from UVic in 2002 and has been teaching mechanical engineering at BCIT for the last eight years. He feels strongly that we need to focus on the sustainability of the entire energy system and not assume that a specific project is sustainable just because it is labelled ‘renewable’, ‘clean’ or ‘green’. 

Taco is a Ph.D. student carrying out energy systems modelling work to address sustainability issues in how we provide energy services. He will focus on assessing the real costs of variable energy resources (VERs), and the systems level implications of utilizing VERs for electricity generation.

When not working, Taco enjoys sailing, camping and hiking.
