Abstract:

The impact on community and family capacity to care for children orphaned by AIDS is most severe in less developed countries where the incidence of AIDS is greatest and the resources to care for these children are most limited. This report describes a research attempt to address the situation of AIDS orphans in Malawi from a human rights and community development framework grounded in a local cultural
ethic of child-care.
