2022-2023 Graduate Student Fellow

Samuel Adesubokan was a Graduate Student Fellow at the Centre for Global Studies and a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of English, University of Victoria, BC. Samuel's research interests are in postcolonial literature and theory, Global Black studies, media and fiction, and imaginative-making with media—in terms of their aesthetics and politics. Using literature, Samuel thinks through the term worlding to engage economic, political, social, and cultural crisscrosses of our cosmopolitical and globalized world as making possible new worlds in his dissertation. His research will attend to diasporic mobility and Black cultural practices beyond the homeland and engages cultural and social fluxes that are yet ongoing among dispersed groups and those in the African homeland.
