Maeva Gauthier is a PhD student in Geography in the Community-based Research Lab at the University of Victoria and a Graduate Student Fellow at the Centre for Global Studies. Her research interests include resilience and adaptations, human dimensions of global change, participatory approaches, youth engagement and Arctic regions. Her research is using participatory video to engage youth in Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, on issues that matter to them: climate change and living in two worlds (modern and traditional worlds).

Prior to her transition in social sciences, she completed a Graduate Certificate in Environmental Education and Communication (2015), Masters in Marine Ecology (UVic, 2012) and BSc in Biology (UQAM, 2007). Maeva remains involved in science outreach and education as Co-Founder of Live It, which connects experts from the field live into classrooms across Canada. She is also a member and the Communications Director of The Explorers Club (Canadian Chapter) and a Fellow member of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, where she takes inspiration from.
