Christina Hamer is a PhD candidate at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey. Her doctoral research involves a comparative analysis of the policy systems and policy responses to refugee flows in Canada and Turkey between 1990 and 2005. She examines the non-linear relationships amongst push/pull factors that create patterns of influence in policy systems.

Christina has also done research on media representations of migrants in Europe through a project funded by TUBITAK, the National Scientific Research Council of Turkey. Her further research interests include migrant integration, regional and municipal migration policy, asylum policy, and temporary protection issues.
