Nicole Bates-Eamer

2008-2012 Graduate Student Fellow
Nicole Bates-Eamer was a PhD Candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Victoria, and a Graduate Student Fellow at the Centre for Global Studies. She is also a Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions Scholar, working on the project Climate Change Displacement – Mapping the BC Context. This is an exciting new partnership between PICS, the Centre for Global Studies, and the Climate Migrants and Refugees Project (an NGO in Vancouver).
Her dissertation examines policies and narratives regarding the complex intersections of climate change and human mobilities. Nicole has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis in history and chemistry, and a Master’s degree from the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University.
While pursuing her PhD, Nicole worked at the Centre for Global Studies (CFGS) where she managed the Borders in Globalization SSHRC research program on international borders (she is currently on leave from this position).
At CFGS since 2008, Nicole has previously managed programs and conducted research on issues of international development, climate change governance, global governance and G8 and G20 reform.
