Working on his research program on the role of technology in state-building in contemporary Iran, Dr. Mohammad Badamchi is conducting the new chapter of his work on CSRS.

Focusing on the Islamic interpretation of importing Western technology after Islamic Revolution of 1979, Dr. Badamchi is trying to dive deeper into religious interpretation of technology and technical interpretation of Islam in Islamic governmentality. Learning about the importance of patriarchal gender dynamics in traditional structure of power in Islamic culture, his research constitutes of an especial focus on the mandatory of Hijab as a political technology of subjugating female body and its importance is Islamic state-building which is completely relevant to recent women's movement in Iran.
