Finding Japan bookcover

Early Canadian connections with Japan began much earlier, and were more significant, than many of us realize - beginning with a young, half Aboriginal son of a Hudson's Bay trader who smuggled himself into Japan in 1848 by faking his own shipwreck. Anne Park Shannon will present surprising insights and intriguing images from Finding Japan, her new book about people who laid the foundation for Canada’s reach across the Pacific.

Books available for purchase and signing at the event.
