Welcoming President Kevin Hall

- University of Victoria

Dear members of the university community,

On his first official day as president, I am excited to welcome Dr. Kevin Hall to the University of Victoria as our eighth president and vice-chancellor. This is an exciting new chapter for the university, and the Board of Governors and I are eager to begin working with President Hall.

Kevin brings a forward-thinking mindset and dedication to driving social, environmental and economic change. An accomplished researcher and experienced administrator, Kevin’s career demonstrates that he shares UVic’s commitment to:

  • truth, respect and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples;
  • equity, diversity, inclusion and access to education;
  • environmental sustainability;
  • excellence in research, scholarship, creative activity and teaching;
  • student support and wellness; and
  • strong partnerships and community connections.

We are looking forward to continuing this work together at UVic.

Kevin’s appointment is the result of an extensive, year-long international search process. He was previously at the University of Newcastle in Australia where he served as vice-president and senior deputy vice-chancellor for global engagement and partnerships. He has also held leadership roles at Queen’s University and the University of Guelph.

Kevin is looking forward to meeting our faculty, staff and students, and learning more about our campus and broader community in the coming weeks and months.

Learn about Kevin, including a video celebrating his appointment.

Please join me and the Board of Governors in welcoming President Kevin Hall to the university and to Victoria!

Yours sincerely,

Cathy McIntyre
Chair, University of Victoria Board of Governors
