Expert on Royal Visit to Canada

The following University of Victoria faculty member is available to media for comment on the upcoming royal visit by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and family:

Mariel Grant (Dept. of History) is an expert in the British aristocracy, the history of 20th and 21st century Britain, the influence of the monarchy in modern times, as well as the history of propaganda, publicity and public relations. She can also provide comment on the social, political and cultural role and impact of the nobility. She teaches a number of courses on these topics, including this term’s “Upstairs at Downton Abbey: The British Aristocracy in the Modern Era” (HSTR 420). She is available through this week, as well as during the royal couple’s visit. (Please email mlgrant@uvic.ca to set up interviews outside teaching hours.)
