Expert on overdose-reversal drug Naloxone

The following University of Victoria experts are available to media to discuss Health Canada’s move towards making the opioid-overdose-reversing drug Naloxone available without prescription.

Bernie Pauly (Centre for Addictions Research of BC/School of Nursing) is an expert in reducing health inequities associated with substance use, poverty and homelessness. She can discuss the benefits of Naloxone and the implications of making it non-prescription. She is available in Victoria on Thursday, Jan. 14 after 4 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 15 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and from 2:30 p.m. (Office: 250-472-5915 or bpauly@uvic.ca)

Dan Reist (Centre for Addictions Research of BC) is an expert in communicating current evidence around substance use and addictive behaviours in a way that supports the evolution of effective policy and practice.
