UVic alumna named interim leader of the official opposition

On Nov. 5, UVic grad Rona Ambrose was named as the interim leader of the federal Conservative party. An Alberta Member of Parliament since 2004, she held several cabinet positions within the Conservative government, including Environment, Intergovernmental Affairs, Western Economic Diversification, Labour, Public Works and Government Services Canada, Receiver General, Status of Women, Regional Minister of Northern Alberta, and Health.

Ambrose graduated from UVic in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Women’s Studies, followed by a Master’s degree in political science from the University of Alberta.
