On May 1 from 2-4 p.m., faculty and staff are invited to an exclusive sneak peak of CARSA. Athletics and Recreation will be offering drop-in tours at the following times:

  • 2:15 p.m.
  • 2:45 p.m.
  • 3:15 p.m.

Open House Weekend: May 2 and 3

On May 2 and 3 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., join Vikes Athletics, Recreation and CanAssist for the CARSA Open House Weekend celebration. We'll be opening up the facility and you can be the "First in" to experience the newest recreation facility in the Capital Region. Join us for an engaging tour, food, prize draws and try the facility for free. With more than 190,000 square feet of space, there’s so much waiting for you to discover in CARSA.

Gabriola Road closed for CARSA opening

To accommodate the grand opening events, most of Gabriola Road will be closed off from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. between the entrance to parking lot 2 (accessible from McKenzie Ave.), and the laneway beside the Continuing Studies Building (accessible from Ring Road).

Ian Stewart Complex closures

The Ian Stewart Complex (ISC) fitness and weight training centre closed Tuesday, April 21 to move equipment destined for the new CARSA facility. Members wishing to work out during this time may use the weight room at McKinnon Gym. Between April 21 and May 1 ISC users can present the UVic cards they use at ISC to Saanich Recreation and Oak Bay Recreation to gain access to their facilities.
