BC budget day

The following University of Victoria experts are available to discuss the provincial government’s 2015 budget announcement tomorrow:

Elisabeth Gugl (Dept. of Economics) is an economist who teaches in the areas of labour economics, public finance and microeconomic theory. She studies family economics and the decision-making that takes place within families. She can comment on what implications the provincial budget might have for families. Michael J. Prince (Human & Social Development) is an expert on topics including social assistance, employment, education, housing needs and issues relating to inclusion for people with developmental disabilities. Dr. Prince is on site at lock-up on Feb. 17 with the Ministry of Finance and is also available all day on cell. (Cell: 250-882-0695 or mprince@uvic.ca)

Bruce Wallace (School of Social Work) is an expert on social policy and health policy particularly as they relate to the world of social work. Dr. Wallace can speak to income assistance, the provincial poverty plan, housing and homelessness, dental benefits (via income assistance and Healthy Kids) and harm reduction issues.
