Peninsula Co-op Climbing Wall at CARSA

The University of Victoria—thanks to support from Peninsula Co-op—is one step closer to fulfilling its vision for UVic’s Centre for Athletics, Recreation and Special Abilities (CARSA), which will set a new standard for healthy living in Canada and impact thousands of lives every day. The 16-metre climbing tower at CARSA is officially named today as the Peninsula Co-op Climbing Wall, with Peninsula Co-op as CARSA’s first corporate partner.

“Peninsula Co-op is very proud to be the first corporate naming partner with UVic and CARSA,” says Patti Hunter, Board of Directors chair of the member relations committee at Peninsula Co-op, and who also sits on the governance committee. “Peninsula Co-op believes in giving back to the communities where we do business and CARSA is a perfect fit for us.”

Jim Dunsdon, associate vice-president of Student Affairs at the university, adds that “CARSA will be a home of champions, a resource for the wider community and a place where aspirations can be transformed into achievements. We are very excited about this new partnership with Peninsula Co-op. Every contribution to UVic has a common goal of making our community and the world around us a better place and helps to create a promising future for our students and the broader communities we serve. Thank you again to Peninsula Co-op for joining us in building this landmark.”

Peninsula Co-op (peninsulaco-op.com) is a local co-operative business widely respected for its commitment of working together to achieve a common goal of putting people first.

The corporate naming partnership includes cash, scholarship funding and collaborative promotions.

CARSA is scheduled to open in Spring 2015.
