Registration opens for Provost's Diversity Research Forum

How has activism changed in 50 years at the University of Victoria? Find out at the Provost's Diversity Research Forum, Critical Conversations: Rethinking Realities, taking place on campus on Wednesday, Jan. 30 (4–6 p.m.) and Thursday, Jan. 31 (9 a.m.–3:30 p.m.). This annual conference brings together UVic faculty and students, and community members to share and discuss groundbreaking research and engage in critical conversations on a wide range of equity and diversity topics, including teaching and learning methodologies.

The 2013 program features keynote speakers The Honorable Jim Munson, who will speak about his interests in the rights of children and people with disabilities, and Mrs. Olivia Barr, a member of UVic’s first graduating class and first woman elected as a student council president at a co-ed Canadian university. Two of this year’s panel sessions will reflect on diversity in UVic’s 50th anniversary year, including the closing plenary, 50 years of activism: Then and now. Registration is free and all rooms are accessible. Everyone is welcome: faculty, staff, students and community members. Visit www.uvic.ca/diversity/forum2013.
