Student StartUp Challenge 2013 – UVic Wins First Place!

Jos&e#180; Barrios, UVic psychology undergraduate, won first place this month in the Student StartUp Challenge for his research idea, Cognilab. Barrios and others founded the Canadian company with the objective to make academic research more accessible.

Their web-based lab (beta) allows researchers to create and test experiments faster than before. Cognilab beat out stiff competition from SFU and UBC but ultimately won by 250 votes.

Barrios and the UVic team brought home 3,000 in prize money plus startup perks and savings from LX Ventures.
