Spring Convocation 2009: Academic Medalists
Medals for outstanding academic achievement will be awarded during the University of Victoria’s spring convocation ceremonies, June 15 to 18 in the University Centre Farquhar Auditorium.
The university will confer 3,024 degrees, diplomas and certificates at spring convocation. Four honorary degrees will also be granted (for details, see the earlier media release: http://communications.uvic.ca/releases/release.php?display=release&id=1037)
The 2009 academic medalists are:
Governor General’s Gold Medal (outstanding doctoral or master’s degree grade point average [GPA] and dissertation/thesis): Dr. Javier Tello (Biology)
Governor General’s Silver Medal (outstanding undergraduate GPA): Jennifer Christie (Biology)
Lieutenant Governor’s Silver Medal (overall academic excellence and an outstanding thesis in a master’s degree program): Leila Scannell (Psychology)
Lieutenant Governor’s Silver Medal (overall program achievement and an outstanding project, extended essay, recital, exhibition, or production in a master’s program): Sarah Mead-Willis (English)
Faculty of Education Maxwell A. Cameron Memorial Award, Elementary Education: Jessica Hepting

Jubilee Medal, Humanities (top undergraduate GPA): Trent Jonson (Medieval Studies)
