2014 QS world rankings highlight UVic's international reputation

The 2014 QS World University Rankings by Subject have today identified the University of Victoria as a well-balanced institution with an international reputation, showing particular leadership in six key academic fields.

UVic was ranked among the elite top-200 institutions globally for scholarship and research in six subject areas: English language and literature, psychology, earth and marine sciences, geography, physics and astronomy, and law.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject identifies the world’s strongest universities in 30 different subject areas. UVic was ranked at world-class level in 22, a rise from 21 last year. QS also publishes rankings by faculty, best student cities, among others.

More than 3000 of the world’s top universities were studied—approximately 15 per cent of all institutions—and ranked fewer than 700 of them for statistically significant subject-specific leadership.
